A Man For All Seasons: extends its run by one week and will now play through to 14 Dec

Roundabout Theatre Company has extended the run of Robert Bolts A Man For All Seasons, by one week. The production stars 3-Time Tony Award Winner Frank Langella (Frost/Nixon, Fortune's Fool, Seascape) as 'Sir Thomas More' and is directed by Tony Award Winner Doug Hughes (Doubt),

A Man For All Seasons opened at the American Airline Theatre on 7 Oct 2008, following previews from 12 Sep, for a limited run that was originally scheduled to end on 7 Dec 2008, but will now play through to 14 Dec 2008.

The show opened to luke-warm reviews: "Langella is inarguably a Great Presence in the respectful revival." (NY Times); "Parched Roundabout revival all too seldom ignites." (NY Daily News); "Somewhat static, talky affair." (NY Post); "Can't quite shake a sermonlike feeling." (AP); "Would be mighty dull were it not for the majestic presence of Frank Langella." (Star-Ledger)

A Man For All Seasons is based on the true story of English Chancellor Sir Thomas More and his moral objection to King Henry VIIIs plan to leave the Catholic Church.

The cast also features Hannah Cabel (Margaret More), Michael Esper (William Roper), Zach Grenier (Thomas Cromwell), Dakin Matthews (Cardinal Wolsey), George Morfogen (Thomas Cranmer, Archbishop), Patrick Page (King Henry VIII), Maryann Plunkett (Alice More), Michael Siberry (Duke of Norfolk), Jeremy Strong (Richard Rich), Charles Borland (Jailor), Peter Bradbury (Steward), Patricia Hodges (Woman), Triney Sandoval (Thomas Chapuys) and Emily Dorsch.

The design team includes Santo Loquasto (sets), Catherine Zuber (costumes) and David Lander (lights). Additional cast members and design team will be announced shortly.

The Drama premiered on Broadway in 1961 and won the Tony Award for Best Play. In 1966, the play was made into a feature film and went on to win six Oscars. This production marks the plays first Broadway revival!
