2015 Theatre World Awards: And the Winners are...
The winners of The 71st Annual Theatre World Awards for outstanding Broadway and Off-Broadway debut performances have now been announced.
The 2015 Theatre World Award winners are (in alphabetical order):
- Geneva Carr: Hand To God
- Daveed Diggs: Hamilton
- Megan Fairchild: On The Town
- Robert Fairchild: An American In Paris
- Collin Kelly-Sordelet: The Last Ship
- Sydney Lucas: Fun Home
- Karen Pittman: Disgraced
- Benjamin Scheuer: The Lion
- Alex Sharp: The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time
- Emily Skeggs: Fun Home
- Micah Stock: It's Only A Play
- Ruth Wilson: Constellations
The recipient of the 2015 Dorothy Loudon Award for Excellence is Leanne Cope (An American In Paris).
The recipient of the 2015 John Willis Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre is Chita Rivera (currently performing in Kander & Ebb's The Visit).
The awards will be presented to the winners at the 71st Annual Theatre World Awards ceremony to be held on Monday, 1 June 2015 at the Lyric Theatre. Peter Filichia will again host, with the awards presented by past Theatre World Award winners.
The Theatre World Award winners are chosen by the Theatre World Awards committee, comprised of Roma Torre (NY1), David Cote (Time Out New York and NY1), Joe Dziemianowicz (New York Daily News), Peter Filichia (The Newark Star-Ledger, Emeritus) Harry Haun (Playbill), Matthew Murray (Talkin' Broadway), and Frank Scheck (New York Post).
First presented in 1945, the Theatre World Awards are the oldest awards given for a debut theatre performance on or off-Broadway.
