Spider-Man Turn of the Dark

This show is still in previews - many of the press critics took the view that the show should be reviewed because it has been in previews for so long. We will give the show a star-rating after its official opening - which is currently scheduled for 15 Mar 2011.

What the popular press said...

"So grievously broken in every respect that it is beyond repair."
Ben Brantley for New York Times

"A big production going in too many directions and in need of a lot of work to make it entertaining, satisfying and understandable."
Joe Dziemianowicz for New York Daily News

"So this erratic musical goes, constantly seesawing between the galvanizing and the lame."
Elisabeth Vincentelli for New York Post

"Broadway musical is not a theme-park attraction. You need a strong story to go with the spectacle. ... But the story supporting these imaginative images is flimsier than a strand of filament."
David Sheward for Back Stage

"They could work on the show till the cows come home and they'd still wind up with the theatrical equivalent of manure."
Robert Feldberg for Back Stage

"If watching actors in latex land in the mezzanine is your idea of an evening well spent, "Spider-Man" won't seem a gargantuan waste. Musical lovers, however, might wish the whole unsalvageable thing would just take a flying leap."
Peter Marks for Washington Post

"Spider-Man is chaotic, dull and a little silly."
David Rooney for The Hollywood Reporter

"Weaknesses lie with the book, music and lyrics, a kiss of death for most musicals."
Steven Suskin for Variety
