June Squibb, Cynthia Nixon, Danny Burstein, Christopher Lowell to star in 'Marjorie Prime' on Broadway
The acclaimed actors will lead the Broadway premiere of Jordan Harrison's futuristic drama, presented by Second Stage Theater beginning in November.
Second Stage Theater has announced starry casting for its fall production of Marjorie Prime, featuring June Squibb, Cynthia Nixon, Danny Burstein, and Christopher Lowell. Performances are set to run from November 20 to February 15, with opening night on December 8 at the Hayes Theater.
Squibb is an Academy Award nominee for the film Nebraska and is also known for movies like Thelma, Alice, The Age of Innocence, Meet Joe Black, Far from Heaven, and Inside Out 2. She is also a stage veteran, making her debut in the original Broadway production of Gypsy and appearing in shows like Waitress and Sacrilege.
Nixon is best known for playing Miranda Hobbes on Sex and the City (Emmy Award), and she is a two-time Tony Award winner for her performances in The Little Foxes and Rabbit Hole on Broadway. She was also nominated for her turns in Wit and Indiscretions, and she has over 30 total NYC stage credits to her name.
Burstein was most recently seen as Herbie in the 2024 revival of Gypsy, earning a 2025 Tony nomination for his performance. He has earned eight total nominations throughout his Broadway career, winning in 2021 for his role as Harold Zidler in Moulin Rouge! The Musical.
Lowell is known for his TV roles as Stosh "Piz" Piznarski in Veronica Mars, William "Dell" Parker in Private Practice, Sebastian "Bash" Howard in GLOW, and Jesse Walker in How I Met Your Father. He made his Broadway debut in Second Stage's fall 2024 Broadway production of Cult of Love.
A finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, Jordan Harrison's Marjorie Prime is a twist on the family drama in which Marjorie, an elderly widow, employs a holographic projection of her late husband to help her relive their memories together. Tony nominee Anne Kauffman, who staged the play's Off-Broadway world premiere at Playwrights Horizons in 2015, returns to direct.
Marjorie Prime will feature scenic design by Lee Jellinek, costume design by Márion Talán de la Rosa, lighting design by Ben Stanton, and sound design and original music by Daniel Kluger.
