Wicked: Marcie Dodd, Alli Mauzey, Kevin Kern and Brynn O'malley join cast

 

Now entering its 6th year on Broadway, the musical Wicked welcome new cast members on 11 Nov 2008.

Marcie Dodd will assume the role of 'Elphaba' and Alli Mauzey will assume the role of 'Glinda.' Also joining the company on the 11 Nov are Kevin Kern in the role of 'Fiyero' and Brynn O'malley as 'Nessarose.'

Dodd is making her Broadway debut. She comes to the role of 'Elphaba' directly from the Los Angeles Company of Wicked, where she was the standby for the role. She has also performed on the First National Tour of the musical.

Mauzey (Glinda) recently starred on Broadway as the love-crazed 'Lenora' in the new musical 'Cry-Baby' (2008). She has played 'Brenda' in Hairspray on Broadway and the National Tour.

O'malley (Nessarose) appeared on Broadway earlier this year in the revival of 'Sunday in the Park with George' (Celeste #1/Elaine). Her other Broadway credits include playing 'Amber Von Tussle' in Hairspray (Amber Von Tussle) and being the understudy for the role of 'Belle' in 'Beauty & the Beast.'

Kern (Fiyero) appeared on Broadway in the original company of 'The Wedding Singer' (2006) (Robbie Standby/Swing) and in 'Les Mis�rables' (1987). Most recently he was a swing in the Pre-Broadway production of 9 To 5 The Musical, which he will play when the musical begins performances on Broadway from 24 Mar 2009.

They assume their roles from Kerry Ellis (Elphaba), Kendra Kassebaum (Glinda), Aaron Tveit (Fiyero) and Cristy Candler (Nessarose) who played their final performance on 9 Nov 2008.

They join a cast which currently includes Jayne Houdyshell as Madame Morrible, P.J. Benjamin as The Wizard, and Timothy Britten Parker as Dr. Dillamond and Alex Brightman as 'Boq.'

The Broadway musical Wicked celebrated its fifth anniversay on 30 Oct 2008. The show opened at the Gershwin Theatre on 30 Oct 2003, following previews from 8 Oct and is currently booking through to 30 Aug 2009.

Long before Dorothy drops in, two other girls meet in the land of Oz. One, born with emerald-green skin, is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. Wicked tells the story of their remarkable odyssey, how these two unlikely friends grow to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch.

Wicked has music & lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, book by Winnie Holzman, based on the novel by Gregory Maguire.

The musical is directed by Joe Mantello, with choreography by James Lynn Abbott, scene design by Eugene Lee, costumes by Susan Hilferty, lighting by Kenneth Posner and sound by Tony Meola.
