Wicked: Clarke and Fellner join cast on 12 Jan

 

Katie Rose Clarke assumes the role of 'Glinda' and Jenny Fellner the role of 'Nessarose' in the Broadway production of Wicked on 12 Jan 2010.

Clarke assumes the role of 'Glinda' from Erin Mackey, and Fellner assumes the role of 'Nessarose' from Michelle Federer.

Clarke played 'Glinda' in the First National Tour of Wicked for nearly two years. Under the direction of Bartlett Sher, she portrayed the role of 'Clara Johnson' in the Broadway production, live PBS broadcast, and First National Touring Company of 'The Light in the Piazza,' as well as the Long Wharf Theatre's production of Craig Lucas' 'Prayer for My Enemy' as 'Marianne.'

Fellner starred as 'Linda English' in the Broadway revival of 'Pal Joey' and as played 'Sophie Sheridan' in the Broadway production of 'Mamma Mia!'

Wicked now features Dee Roscioli (Elphaba), Katie Rose Clarke (Glinda), P.J. Benjamin (The Wizard), Rondi Reed (Madame Morrible), Kevern Kern (Fiyero), Jenny Fellner (Nessarose), Timothy Britten Parker (Doctor Dillamond) and Alex Brightman (Boq).

The Broadway musical Wicked opened at the Gershwin Theatre on 30 Oct 2003, following previews from 8 Oct 2003 and is currently selling tickets through to 10 Oct 2010

Long before Dorothy drops in, two other girls meet in the land of Oz. One, born with emerald-green skin, is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. Wicked tells the story of their remarkable odyssey, how these two unlikely friends grow to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch.

Wicked has music & lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, book by Winnie Holzman, based on the novel by Gregory Maguire.

The musical is directed by Joe Mantello, with choreography by James Lynn Abbott, scene design by Eugene Lee, costumes by Susan Hilferty, lighting by Kenneth Posner and sound by Tony Meola.
