Tina: The Tina Turner Musical confirms Broadway dates and theatre
The Broadway premiere of Tina is scheduled to begin performances at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre on October 12, 2019.
She'll be your Private Dancer... at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre on Broadway! Producers of London's smash hit bio-musical Tina: The Tina Turner Musical have now confirmed that the Broadway premiere will begin performances at the Lunt-Fontanne on October 12, 2019, ahead of an official opening on November 7.
As previously reported, Tony Award nominee Adrienne Warren, star of the London world premiere, will reprise her current Olivier-nominated performance as Tina Turner in the Broadway production.
Tina Turner previously commented: “I’m so proud of everything that Adrienne has achieved over the last year in the West End. She has given it everything she’s got, she has poured her soul into it, and she deserves every success. I am thrilled she will be reprising her role in New York, and I cannot wait to see her on that Broadway stage on Opening Night”.
Written by Katori Hall (with Frank Ketelaar and Kees Prins), who previously made her Broadway debut with The Mountaintop in 2011, and directed by Tony Award nominee Phyllida Lloyd, whose previous Broadway credits include Mamma Mia! and 2009's Mary Stuart, Tina features some of Tina Turner's iconic back catelogue of hits such as "Nutbush City Limits," "River Deep – Mountain High," "Proud Mary," "Private Dancer," "What's Love Got to Do with It?," "Simply The Best," and many more.
Synopsis: "From humble beginnings in Nutbush, Tennessee, to her transformation into the global Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll, Tina Turner didn’t just break the rules, she rewrote them. This new stage musical, presented in association with Tina Turner herself, reveals the untold story of a woman who dared to defy the bounds of her age, gender and race."
The production features musical supervision, additional music and arrangements by Nicholas Skilbeck, orchestrations by Ethan Popp, choreography by Anthony van Laast, scenic & costume design by Mark Thompson, lighting design by Bruno Poet, sound design by Nevin Steinberg, and projection design by Jeff Sugg.

Her big break came after being cast in Shuffle Along, Or The Making of the Musical Sensation of 1921 and All That Followed and earning a Tony Award nomination for her performance in 2016.
