Thom Sesma & Sally Ann Triplett will lead the new cast of Sweeney Todd
The Tooting Arts Club production of Sweeney Todd welcomes new cast members to the Barrow Street Theatre from February 27, 2018.
The new cast will be led by Broadway veterans Thom Sesma (as Sweeney Todd) and Sally Ann Triplett (as Mrs. Lovett), and also includes Zachary Noah Piser (as Tobias), Billy Harrigan Tighe (as Anthony), and DeLaney Westfall (as Johanna). They join current cast members Michael James Leslie (as Judge Turpin), John Rapson (as The Beadle), and Stacie Bono (as Pirelli & Beggar Woman).
Hugh Panaro, Tony Award nominee Carolee Carmello, Jake Boyd, Eryn LeCroy, and John-Michael Lyles are all scheduled to play their final performances as Sweeney Todd, Mrs. Lovett, Anthony, Johanna, and Tobias, respectively, on February 25, 2018.
Ensemble cast members include Matt Leisy, Liz Pearce, Danny Rothman and Monet Sabel.
Thom Sesma has previously been seen on the Great White Way in The Times They Are A-Changin', Man of La Mancha, Face Value, Search and Destroy, Nick & Nora, Chu Chem, and La Cage aux Folles, as well as the National Tours of Miss Saigon and Titanic. Sally Ann Triplett was last seen on Broadway in Finding Neverland and also starred in The Last Ship and Carrie. Zachary Noah Piser was most recently seen as Boq in the Broadway production of Wicked. Billy Harrigan Tighe made his Broadway debut in Pippin and has starred in the National Tours of Finding Neverland as J.M. Barrie, The Book of Mormon as Elder Price, La Cage aux Folles as Jean-Michel, and Wicked as Fiyero. DeLaney Westfall most recently starred as Lauren in Kinky Boots on Broadway and has also appeared in the National Tour of Beautiful - The Carole King Musical and the Broadway revival of Side Show.
Following its critically acclaimed, sold-out engagement at Harrington’s Pie and Mash Shop in London - the oldest continuously operating pie shop in Britain - previews began at the specially re-created working pie shop environment within off-Broadway's Barrow Street Theatre on February 14, 2017, before an official opening on March 1.
The classic musical features music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and a book by Hugh Wheeler. The Tooting Arts Club production features an adaptation by Christopher Bond and is directed by Bill Buckhurst.

Traditional pie and mash is served prior to each performance, with William "Bill" Yosses serving as Official Pie Maker.
Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street originally premiered on Broadway in 1979 at the Uris Theatre (now the Gershwin), starring Len Cariou as Sweeney Todd and Angela Lansbury as Mrs. Lovett. The production went on to win 8 Tony Awards including "Best Musical," "Best Book of a Musical," and "Best Original Score". It has since been revived twice on the Great White Way - 1989 at Circle in the Square and 2005 at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre. The musical made its West End debut and won the Olivier Award for "Best New Musical" in 1980. London revivals were staged in 1993, 2004 and most recently in 2012, with the latter picking up three Olivier Awards including "Best Muscial Revival". Tim Burton directed the 2007 movie adaptation, starring Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter, which received two Golden Globe Awards and three Oscar nominations.
