The Visit posts closing notice for 14 June 2015

Producers of John Kander and Fred Ebb's final musical The Visit have announced that the production will play its final performance at the Lyceum Theatre on Sunday 14 June 2015.

Producer Tom Kirdahy released the following statement:

"The Visit has created a sensation on Broadway and generated interest in productions around the world. We are eager for the release of the original recording of our CD and look forward to future productions across the globe. It has been our great privilege to present the legendary Chita Rivera in the final Kander and Ebb musical. This has been one for the history books".
The Visit was nominated for 5 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, but didn't win any. It is the final collaboration of John Kander (music) and Fred Ebb (lyrics). Book is by Terrence McNally and it is directed by John Doyle with choreography by Graciela Daniele.

The Visit began previews at the Lyceum Theatre on 26 March 2015, officially opened on 23 April, and is currently booking through to 6 September 2015. It opened to generally positive reviews with many praising the central performance of Chita Rivera.

The musical originally premiered in 2001 at Chicago's Goodman Theatre and was revived by director John Doyle in 2014 at the Williamstown Theatre Festival, opening to mixed reviews but sell out audiences.

The cast for the Broadway production includes Chita Rivera, Jason Danieley, Matthew Deming, Diana Dimarzio, David Garrison, Rick Holmes, Tom Nelis, Chris Newcomer, Aaron Ramey, Timothy Shew, and Michelle Veintimilla.

The Visit is produced on Broadway by Tom Kirdahy, Tom Smedes, Hugh Hayes, Peter Stern, Judith Ann Abrams, Hunter Arnold, Carl Daikeler, Ken Davenport, Rich Affannato, Gabrielle Palitz, in association with Williamstown Theatre Festival.
