The Book of Merman sets off-Broadway closing date at St. Luke's Theatre

The New York premiere of The Book of Merman will play its final performance on February 17, 2019.

Producers of the New York premiere of The Book of Merman have confirmed a closing date of Februar 17, 2019, at off-Broadway's St. Luke's Theatre. The musical comedy began previews on October 5, 2018, ahead of an official opening on October 21.

Featuring a score by Leo Schwartz and a book by Schwartz and DC Cathro, the production is directed and choreographed by Joe Langworth.

Synopsis: "Two Mormon missionaries ring the doorbell of Ethel Merman and hilarity ensues in this new musical comedy. The Book of Merman is a diva-driven journey featuring original songs and show-stopping ballads. It's delightful. It's delicious. It's de-Merman!"

The cast of The Book of Merman includes YouTube sensation Carly Sakolove, best known for her YouTube shows "I'm Every Woman" and "Broadway Divas Send in the Clowns," as Ethel Merman, alongside Nicholas J. Pollina (as Elder Shumway,) and Kyle Ashe Wilkinson (as Elder Braithwaite). Rounding out the cast are Casey Martin Klein and Julie Sommer Peters.

The creative team behind The Book of Merman features music direction by Aaron Benham, scenic & lighting design by Josh Iacovelli, costume design by Pablo Borges, sound design by Raymond Schilke, and wig design by Bobbie Pinz.

The musical comedy originally premiered in Chicago in 2015 and has staged a number of regional productions since.

The New York premiere of The Book of Merman is produced off-Broadway by I Wrote That, LLC.

The Book of Merman Tickets are available now for performances through to February 17, 2019.
