Sierra Boggess joins Lloyd Webber's School of Rock
It has now been confirmed that Sierra Boggess will star as 'Rosalie Mullins’ in Andrew Lloyd Webber's upcoming musical adaptation of School of Rock - the Musical, which opens at the Winter Garden Theatre on 6 December 2015 following previews from 9 November 2015.
The composer said of the announcement: "Sierra is a magical performer...She was a brilliant Christine Daaé in Phantom, and I’m delighted she’ll have this chance to show off her considerable comedic chops in the role of the Rosalie in School of Rock."
Sierra Boggess is currently starring on Broadway in 'It Shoulda Been You'. Other Broadway credits include 'The Phantom of the Opera', the revival of 'Master Class', and 'The Little Mermaid' Her West End credits include 'Les Misérables', 'Phantom of the Opera' (Royal Albert Hall), and 'Love Never Dies' for which she was nominated for an Olivier Award.
Based on the 2003 film of the same name, School of Rock - the Musical will feature songs from the film as well as new music by Andrew Lloyd Webber along with lyrics by Glenn Slater. The production will be directed by Laurence Connor.
The production will feature Choreography by JoAnn M. Hunter, Scenic and Costume Design by Anna Louizos, Lighting Design by Natasha Katz, Sound Design by Mick Potter, and Music Supervision by Ethan Popp. It is produced on Broadway by Andrew Lloyd Webber for The Really Useful Group, Warner Music Group & Access Industries, The Shubert Organization, and The Nederlander Organization.
"In School of Rock - the Musical down-on-his-luck wannabe rock star Dewey Finn poses as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school to make ends meet. When he discovers his students’ musical talents, he enlists his fifth-graders to form a rock group and conquer the Battle of the Bands."
