Second Stage Theater has set two world-premiere plays for its 20th annual Uptown Series, its summer season of plays that perform at the McGinn/Cazale Theater. They include 53% Of by Steph D. Rosso and Patience by Johnny G. Lloyd.

53% Of is about two groups of women: one in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and one in Brooklyn, New York. The Bethlehem ladies are preparing for the president to come to town, while the Brooklyn women might be planning a revolution, or a ritual to absolve their guilt. The show's title is a reference to the percentage of white women that voted for Donald Trump as president in 2016, and Rosso's play juxtaposes those that did with those that didn't. Tiffany Nichole Greene directs 53% Of, which runs from June 14 to July 10 and opens on June 28.

Patience will begin performances on August 2 ahead of an August 16 opening, and run through August 28. The play is about a Black professional solitaire player named Daniel, who is considered one of the best in the world. He's preparing to retire and settle down with his fiancé, but he has to play one more career-defining match. Patience is directed by Zhailon Levingston, who became the youngest Black director in Broadway history when he helmed Chicken & Biscuits in 2021.

Casting for both productions has yet to be announced.
