The Roundabout Theatre Company has announced full casting for the NY debut of Stephen Karam's latest drama The Humans, directed by Joe Mantello, which will begin performances off-Broadway at the Laura Pels Theatre in the Harold & Miriam Steinberg Centre for Theatre on 30 September 2015, before an official opening on 25 October, and a limited engagement through to 27 December 2015.

The cast of The Humans includes Cassie Beck (Aimee), Reed Birney (Erik), Jayne Houdyshell (Deirdre), Greg Keller (Richard), Sarah Steele (Brigid), and Joyce Van Patten (Fiona 'Momo' Blake).

Synopsis: "After a sleepless night, Mr. Blake has brought his family from Pennsylvania to celebrate Thanksgiving at his daughter's new apartment. As darkness falls outside the crumbling pre-war duplex, mysterious things start to go bump in the night and family tensions reach a boiling point. Stephen Karam takes a look at the hilarity, heart and horrors of the modern American family."

The creative team of The Humans has also been announced and features scenic design by David Zinn, costume design by Sarah Laux, lighting design by Justin Townsend, and sound design by Fitz Patton.

This marks playwright and Pulitzer Prize finalist Stephen Karam's second commission by The Roundabout Theatre Company, as part of their New Play Initiative. His first commission came in the form of his 2011 offering 'Sons of the Prophet'. His 2007 play 'Speech & Debate' also featured as the inaugural production of the Roundabout Underground program.
