Rothschild & Son to run at the York Theatre

The York Theatre Company will present the world premiere of Rothschild & Son with music by Jerry Bock, lyrics by Sheldon Harnick, and book by Sherman Yellen off-Broadway from 6 October to 1 November 2015.

Directed by Jeffrey B. Moss, the production will star Robert Cuccioli with additional casting and creatives to be announced.

Based on their original musical 'The Rothschilds', inspired by the novel of the same name by Frederic Morton, this one-act, intimate reimagining of the musical focuses on the relationships between the patriarch of the family, Mayer Rothschild, his wife Gutele, and their five sons. The show has been rewritten and features several songs not included in the original, with new lyrics by Mr. Harnick.

The original Broadway production of 'The Rothschilds' was the last collaboration between Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick. The musical ran on Broadway in 1970 for over 500 performances. It received nine Tony Award nominations, winning Best Actor and Featured Actor awards.

Tickets for the production are now on sale.
