Rocktopia begins performances on Broadway

The Broadway premiere of the rock-classical-music-fusion spectacular begins previews at the Broadway Theatre.

Mozart rocks!!! The Broadway premiere of Rocktopia begins previews at the Broadway Theatre tonight, ahead of an official opening on March 27 and a limited run through to April 29, 2018.

Rocktopia is billed as "an explosive musical event that fuses the most iconic 20th-Century rock with world-renowned classical compositions, featuring world-class vocalists—backed by a full symphony orchestra, an electrifying rock band, and a choir performing the works of musical innovators including Journey, Mozart, Queen, Handel, U2, Tchaikovsky, Heart, Beethoven, Led Zeppelin, Copland, The Who and more."

As previously announced, Pat Monahan, a three-time Grammy Award winner and frontman of multi-platinum-selling band Train, officially makes his Broadway debut in this international music sensation, joining the cast for the first three weeks of the run through to April 8. He joins the company of Rob EvanChloe LoweryTony VincentKimberly Nichole, and Alyson Cambridge.

As founder and lead singer of Train, Monahan has released 10 studio albums, selling more than 10 million worldwide, and has received a total of 8 Grammy Award nominations to date, winning 3 - including "Best Rock Song" for "Drops of Jupiter (Tell Me)" in 2002.

The Rocktopia band is comprised of Grammy and Emmy Award nominated violinist Máiréad Nesbitt, guitarist Tony Bruno, pianist Henry Aronson, bass player Mat Fieldes, and drummer Alex Alexander.

Rocktopia is produced on Broadway by ROCKTOPIA Broadway LLC in association with Hughes Wall LLC.

The Broadway Theatre will then host the Broadway premiere of monster musical King Kong, which is set to begin previews on October 5, 2018, before an official opening on November 8.

Rocktopia Tickets are available now for performances through to April 29, 2018.
