Red Bull Theater has announced two new off-Broadway productions to be staged at the company's new home of the Lucille Lortel Theatre, whose seating arrangement it is currently reconfiguring as a three quarter-thrust in order to create "a wonderfully intimate experience" for patrons.

Firstly, Red Bull Theater presents a new production of John Webster's The White Devil, directed by Louisa Proske, which is scheduled to begin previews on March 19, 2019, ahead of an official opening on March 31 and a limited engagement through to April 14, 2019.

Synopsis: "This new production of John Webster's The White Devil offers an interpretation of a poignantly contemporary dystopia, a deep dive into the dizzying maze of political power. Using live video to mirror Webster's world of seductive images, perversion, surveillance and violence, it traces an explosive love affair and the story of an extraordinary woman in a world of deceit, objectification, and fake news."

The creative team features scenic design by Kate Noll, costume design by Beth Goldenberg, lighting design by JiYoun Chang, sound design by Chad Raines, and video design by Yana Birÿkova.

This will mark the first New York production of The White Devil in over fifty years, as it was last staged in a 1965 Frank Langella-led revival at Broadway's Circle in the Square Theatre.

Next, Red Bull Theater presents Mac Beth, Shakespeare's classic tale adapted and directed by Erica Schmidt, beginning previews on May 7, 2019, ahead of an official opening on May 19 and a limited run through to June 2, 2019.

Synopsis: "In this new production seven girls meet up to do a play in an empty lot outside the city on an autumn afternoon. School uniform tartan transforms in this American urban wasteland. The girls are witches, ghosts, and kings. They hurl headlong into the unchecked passions of Macbeth, as the line between real life and blood fantasy quickly blurs. Through prophecies and smartphones, unexpected resonances emerge from Shakespeare's dark nightmare of ambition gone awry."

The creative team behind Mac Beth features scenic design by Catherine Cornell, costume design by Jessica Pabst, lighting design by Jeff Croiter, and sound design by Erin Bednarz.

The world premiere of Mac Beth was previously staged at Seattle Repertory Theater in June 2018.

Casting for both Red Bull Theater productions will be announced at a later date.
