Rachel Tucker debuts in Broadway's Wicked tonight

West End star Rachel Tucker reprises her UK role of Elphaba in the Broadway company of Wicked tonight at the Gershwin Theatre.

Ms. Tucker recently made her Broadway debut as Meg in Sting's musical 'The Last Ship.' In London, besides the West End production of 'Wicked,' she has also starred in 'We Will Rock You,' 'Farragut North' and 'Communicating Doors.' She rose to fame as a semi-finalist on BBC Reality Show 'I'd Do Anything' - a casting show to find a leading lady to play Nancy in the West End production of Oliver!

In addition, Jonah Platt also joins the cast as Fiyero tonight. Platt is making his Broadway debut in the role. His Los Angeles stage credits include 'Scream: The Unauthorized Musical Parody,' 'American Idiot,' 'Hair,' 'Floyd Collins' and 'Bare.'

Caroline Bowman and Matt Shingledecker both played their final performances in the production as Elphaba and Fiyero on 13 September 2015.

The principal cast of Wicked currently includes Rachel Tucker (Elphaba), Kara Lindsay (Glinda), Jonah Platt (Fiyero), Arielle Jacobs (Nessarose), Robin De Jesus (Boq), Fred Applegate (The Wizard), Michele Lee (Madame Morrible), and Timothy Britten Parker (Doctor Dillamond).

The Broadway musical Wicked opened at the Gershwin Theatre on 30 October 2003, following previews from 8 October, and is currently selling tickets through to 6 March 2016.

Wicked has music & lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, book by Winnie Holzman, based on the novel by Gregory Maguire.

Synopsis: "Long before Dorothy drops in, two other girls meet in the land of Oz. One, born with emerald-green skin, is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. Wicked tells the story of their remarkable odyssey, how these two unlikely friends grow to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch."

The musical is directed by Joe Mantello, with choreography by James Lynn Abbott, and features scene design by Eugene Lee, costume design by Susan Hilferty, lighting design by Kenneth Posner and sound design by Tony Meola.

Wicked is produced on Broadway by Universal Stage Productions, Marc Platt, The Araca Group, Jon B. Platt, and David Stone.
