In celebration of today's release of the original cast recording of the West End premiere of The Prince of Egypt via Ghostlight Records, our #QuaranTune of the day is none other than the musical's timeless anthem "When You Believe."

Written by Broadway legend Stephen Schwartz, the song debuted in the 1998 DreamWorks Animation classic of the same name and went on to win the Oscar for 'Best Original Song' at The 71st Academy Awards in 1999. In addition, it was famously recorded by Mariah Carey and the late Whitney Houston for the motion picture soundtrack and released as a music video to further promote the movie.

The stage adaptation originally debuted at TheatreWorks Silicon Valley in 2017 and has continued to develop through Danish productions in Fredericia (2018) and Copenhagen (2019) and the Tuacahn Amphitheatre production in 2018. The West End premiere would finally open at London's Dominion Theatre in February of this year and is currently closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

So, download the original cast recording today and listen to the splendor and the majesty of Schwartz's epic score! And in the meantime, here's the original West End company of The Prince of Egypt...

There can be miracles when you believe, Though hope is frail it's hard to kill. Who knows what miracles you can achieve, When you believe. Somehow you will, You will when you believe. (Miriam & Tzipporah, The Prince of Egypt)
