Playwrights Realm: 2 new plays for 2015-2016 Season

The Playwrights Realm has announced two new productions to be featured in its 2015-2016 Season:

Kicking off the season will be the New York Premiere of Anna Ziegler's drama A Delicate Ship, which will begin previews at the Peter Jay Sharp Theater on 18 August 2015, before an official opening on 27 August, and will conclude its limited engagament on 12 September 2015.

Synopsis: "It's Christmas Eve and Sarah and Sam are celebrating with an old fashioned New York debate about existential suffering - a special type of foreplay in a new relationship like theirs. But then there is a knock on the door, and Sarah's childhood best friend Nate stands at the threshold. And suddenly suffering becomes a whole lot less sexy. A kaleidoscopic look at one night in New York City that changes the lives of three people forever."

This will be followed by the world premiere of Sojourners
, by Page One Playwright Mfoniso Udofia. The limited run is expected to take place from January to February 2016.

Synopsis: "Abasiama came to America with high hopes - for her arranged marriage and her future - intent on earning a degree and returning to Nigeria. But when her husband is seduced by America she must choose between the Nigerian, or the American dream."

Artistic Director Katherine Kovner released the following statement:

"We couldn't be prouder that our next season features these two women of such extraordinary talent. They have written plays filled with guts, emotion, poetry, and ineffable beauty. They are both works that we have developed and nurtured, and we are overjoyed to share them with our audience."
