Peter Eyre steps into Wolf Hall at the Winter Garden Theatre

It has been announced that Broadway veteran Peter Eyre has officially stepped into the papal shoes of 'Cardinal Wolsey' in the eight-time Tony Nominated production of Wolf Hall: Parts One and Two at the Winter Garden Theatre.

Eyre has replaced original cast member Paul Jesson who has departed the production for personal reasons, and will continue with the production until it ends its run on 5 July 2015.

Wolf Hall: Parts One and Two which received the 2015 Tony Award for Best Costume Design of a play (Christopher Oram) opened on Broadway on 9 April 2015 at the Winter Garden Theatre following previews from 20 March 2015. The production will conclude its 15-week limited engagement on 5 July 2015 after playing 66 performances of Part 1 and 59 performances of Part 2.

Peter Eyre was last seen on Broadway in the 2009 production of 'Hamlet', starring Jude Law. Other appearances in New York include Polonius in 'Hamlet' with Ralph Fiennes (Belasco), 'Terre Haute' (59 Street Theater) and 'Chere Maitre' (Flea Theater).

Wolf Hall: Parts One and Two explores the deceit, betrayal, and intrigue of the court of Henry VIII. Based on the best selling books by Dame Hilary Mantel, it is adapted for the stage by Mike Poulton, and directed by Jeremy Herrin. The show began at the Swan Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon and then moved to the Aldwych Theatre in London before transferring to Broadway. - by Dom O'Hanlon
