Outer Critics Circle 2008-09 Award Winners


The winners of the Outer Critics Circle, the organization of writers and commentators covering New York theater for out-of-town newspapers, were announced on 11 May 2009.

The Award for Outstanding New Broadway Musical was won by 'Billy Elliot: The Musical' which also won in six other categories, making it the most decorated show.'God of Carnage' won awards for Outstanding New Broadway Play and also won Outstanding Actress in a Play Award (Marcia Gay Harden).

Lynn Nottage's 'Ruined' was announced winner of the Outstanding New Off-Broadway Play Award, and 'The Toxic Avenger' won the award for Outstanding New Off-Broadway Musical.

The awards will be presented at a ceremony on the 21 May 2009 at Sardi's Restaurant.
