Official Broadway production photos released for Ink, starring Bertie Carvel & Jonny Lee Miller
Manhattan Theatre Club's American premiere of Ink is set for an official opening on April 24 at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre.
Manhattan Theatre Club has now released official Broadway production photos for its current American premiere of Ink, written by Olivier Award winner James Graham and directed by Tony Award nominee Rupert Goold, which began previews at the Samuel J Friedman Theatre on April 2, 2019. An official opening is scheduled for April 24 and the extended engagement is currently set to run through to June 16, 2019.
The complete cast of Ink includes Tony Award nominee and 2-time Olivier Award winner Bertie Carvel (reprising the role of Rupert Murdoch, after originating the role in London and ultimately winning his second Olivier Award for his performance) and Olivier Award winner Jonny Lee Miller (as Larry Lamb, editor of The Sun newspaper), alongside David Wilson Barnes (as Brian McConnell), Bill Buell (as Frank Nicklin/Hetherington/Percy Roberts), Andrew Durand (as Beverly/Christopher Timothy), Eden Marryshow (as Ray Mills/Lee Howard), Colin McPhillamy (as Sir Alick/Rees-Mogg/Chapel Father), Erin Neufer (as Anna Murdoch/Diana/Chrissie/Apprentice), Kevin Pariseau (as Bench Hand/TV Host/Croiset), Rana Roy (as Stephanie Rahn), Michael Siberry (as Hugh Cudlipp), Robert Stanton (as Bernard Shrimsley/Brittenden), and Tara Summers (as Joyce Hopkirk/Muriel McKay).
Synopsis: "It’s 1969 London. The brash young Rupert Murdoch purchases a struggling paper, The Sun, and sets out to make it a must-read smash which will destroy - and ultimately horrify - the competition. He brings on rogue editor Larry Lamb who in turn recruits an unlikely team of underdog reporters. Together, they will go to any lengths for success and the race for the most ink is on!"
The creative team behind Ink features scenic & costume design by Bunny Christie, lighting design by Neil Austin, original music & sound design by Adam Cork, projection design by Jon Driscoll, choreography & movement direction by Lynne Page, dialect coaching by Ben Furey, and music direction by Julie McBride.
Bertie Carvel won his first Olivier Award for originating the role of Miss Trunchbull in Matilda: The Musical, later transferring to Broadway and receiving a Tony Award nomination for his efforts. His other London stage credits include The Hairy Ape and Parade and he also appeared as Bamatabois in the 2012 film adaptation of "Les Misérables".
Jonny Lee Miller made his Broadway debut in 2009 in After Miss Julie alongside Sienna Miller. On stage, he has performed in the world premiere of Frankenstein at the National Theatre in London, sharing the roles of Frankenstein and The Creature with Benedict Cumberbatch and winning his first Olivier Award. He is perhaps best known to American audiences for his film role as Sick Boy in "Trainspotting" (1996) and "T2 Trainspotting" (2017) and his TV role as Sherlock Holmes in the popular CBS series "Elementary".
Ink Tickets are available now for performances through to June 16, 2019.
