Synopsis: "Harvey Fierstein’s Torch Song follows Arnold Beckoff’s odyssey to find happiness in New York. All he wants is a husband, a child, and a pair of bunny slippers that fit, but a visit from his overbearing mother reminds him that he needs one thing more: respect. Join Arnold on this all too human journey about the families we’re born into, the families we choose, and the battles to bring them all home."
The creative team features scenic design by two-time Tony Award winner David Zinn, costume design by Tony Award winner Clint Ramos, lighting design by Drama Desk Award winner David Lander, and sound design by Drama Desk Award winner John Gromada.
Torch Song Trilogy originally opened on Broadway at the Little Theatre (now the Hayes Theater, where the revival is set to play) on June 10, 1982, where it ran for 1,222 performances until May 19, 1985. A film adaptation followed in 1988 in which Mr. Fierstein reprised his role. The current cast originally performed together off-Broadway at the Tony Kiser Theater from September to December 2017.
