New cast members to join Wicked on B'way from July 31

Producers of Broadway's hit musical Wicked have announced new principal casting from July 31, 2017, at the Gershwin Theatre.

Jackie Burns returns to the lead role of Elphaba. She made her Broadway debut in the 2009 revival of 'Hair' and also appeared in the 2014 Broadway premiere of 'If/Then.' She previously starred as Elphaba on Broadway from September 2011 to February 2013, as well as on the National Tour. She also starred in the lead role of Elizabeth on the National Tour of 'If/Then.'

Amanda Jane Cooper makes her Broadway debut as Glinda, having previously starred in the role on the National Tour from April to November 2011 and then again from December 2015 to March 2017.

Tony winner Rondi Reed returns to the role of Madame Morrible, having first played the role on Broadway in 2009. She won a Tony Award in 2008 for her performance as Mattie Fae Aiken in 'August: Osage County.' Other Broadway credits include 'The Rise and Fall of Little Voice' (1994) and 'The Grapes of Wrath' (1990).

Ashley Parker Angel, a former member of boyband "O-Town", returns to the role of Fiyero, having already played the role on the National Tour from November 2014 to August 2015. He made his Broadway debut as Link Larkin in 'Hairspray' in 2007.

Jye Frasca makes his Broadway debut as Boq. He was a member of the original West End company of 'Wicked' and other West End credits include 'Jersey Boys,' 'West Side Story,' 'Cats,' and 'Mamma Mia.'

Finally, Kristen Martin returns to the role of Nessarose, having played the role on the National Tour from September 2016 to June 2017. She previously appeared on Broadway in 'Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark' and in the National Tour of 'A Chorus Line' as Val.

Current Broadway cast members Jennifer DiNoia (Elphaba), Kara Lindsay (Glinda), Tony nominee Sheryl Lee Ralph (Madame Morrible), Michael Campayno (Fiyero), and Zachary Noah Piser (Boq) will all play their final performances in their respective roles on July 29, 2017. PJ Benjamin and Chad Jennings continue in their roles of The Wizard and Doctor Dillamond, respectively.

The Broadway musical Wicked opened at the Gershwin Theatre on October 30, 2003, following previews from October 8, and is currently selling tickets through to January 7, 2018.

Wicked has music & lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, book by Winnie Holzman, based on the novel by Gregory Maguire.

Synopsis: "Long before Dorothy drops in, two other girls meet in the land of Oz. One, born with emerald-green skin, is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. Wicked tells the story of their remarkable odyssey, how these two unlikely friends grow to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch."

The musical is directed by Joe Mantello, with choreography by James Lynn Abbott, and features scene design by Eugene Lee, costume design by Susan Hilferty, lighting design by Kenneth Posner and sound design by Tony Meola.

Wicked is produced on Broadway by Universal Stage Productions, Marc Platt, The Araca Group, Jon B. Platt, and David Stone.
