New cast announced for Avenue Q at New World Stages

Currently celebrating its 15th Anniversary year, new cast members have now been annnounced for the Tony Award-winning "Best Musical" Avenue Q , which continues to delight audiences at off-Broadway's New World Stages.

The current cast includes the previously announced Drama Desk Award nominee Gizel Jiménez (as Kate Monster and Lucy the Slut), as well as newcomers Matt Dengler (as Princeton and Rod), Lacretta (as Gary Coleman), and Jamie Glickman (as Mrs. T., Bear & Others), with Hazel Anne Raymundo playing the role of Christmas Eve through to November 4, when veteran cast member, Grace Choi is set to return to the role.

Long-running cast members include Nicholas Kohn (as Brian), and Jason Jacoby (as Nicky, Trekkie Monster, Bear & Others). Ensemble members include Katie Boren and newcomer Rob Morrison, whilst Michael Liscio, Jr. and Imari Hardon continue as Swings.

Avenue Q features music & lyrics by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx, with a book by Jeff Whitty, and is directed by Jason Moore.

Synopsis: "Avenue Q is set in a rundown outer-borough neighbourhood, where the residents - both puppets and humans - deal with everyday New York challenges like getting a job, falling in love and discovering their purpose in life."

Avenue Q debuted off-Broadway, co-produced by The New Group and the Vineyard Theatre, in March 2003 and transferred to Broadway's Golden Theatre in July 2003. The show went on to win the 2004 Tony Awards for "Best Musical," "Best Score" (for Mr. Lopez and Mr. Marx), and "Best Book of a Musical" (for Mr. Whitty) and enjoy a Broadway run of more than 6 years, closing on September 13, 2009. The production moved to Off-Broadway's New World Stages on October 9, 2009, and officially opened on October 21. 

The creative team features puppets conceived and designed by Rick Lyon, musical supervision by Stephen Oremus, choreography by Ken Roberson, scenic design by Anna Louizos, costume design by Mirena Rada, lighting design by Howell Binkley, and sound design by Acme Sound Partners.

The musical comedy is produced at New World Stages by Kevin McCollum, Robyn Goodman, Jeffrey Seller, The Vineyard Theatre and The New Group.

Avenue Q Tickets are available now for performances through to June 2, 2019.
