Mueller leads cast of Waitress as B'way dates set

Official dates have been set for the Broadway premiere of the new musical Waitress, which features a book by Jessie Nelson and music & lyrics by five-time Grammy Award-nominee Sara Bareilles.

Previews will begin at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre on 25 March 2016, before an official opening on 24 April 2016.

It has also been announced that Tony Award-winner Jessie Mueller will reprise her role as 'Jenna' with a full cast yet to be announced.

The production, directed by Tony winner Diane Paulus, had its out of town opening at the American Repertory Theater in Cambridge, Massachusetts where it ran until 27 September 2015.

Synopsis: "Jenna, a waitress and expert pie maker, is stuck in a small town and a loveless marriage. When a baking contest in a nearby county offers her a chance at escape, Jenna must weigh her commitments against a rare shot at freedom and recognition. Her customers, co-workers, and the town's handsome new doctor all offer her conflicting recipes for happiness - but Jenna must ultimately decide for herself. The musical is based on the 2007 motion picture written by Adrienne Shelly."

Waitress is produced on Broadway by Barry & Fran Weissler and Norton & Elayne Herrick.
