The Manhattan Theatre Club has announced two off-Broadway productions of its 2016-2017 season:

At New York City Center - Stage I, MTC presents Vietgone, written by Qui Nguyen and directed by May Adrales, which will begin previews on 4 October 2016, before an official opening on 25 October.

Synopsis: "A modern twist on the All-American love story, Qui Nguyen's new play Vietgone pulses with contemporary energy. It's the classic story of boy meets girl - except this boy and girl are refugees from the Vietnam War newly settled in a relocation camp inside Middle America. Borrowing elements from the world of up-to-the-minute popular culture to recreate the playwright's own parents' meeting, Vietgone skips through time and around the globe to present a fresh theatrical take on a moving account of one real family's history."

Vietgone is produced in association with South Coast Repertory.

Casting and creative team information will be announced at a later date.

Secondly, at The Studio at Stage II will host Sell/Buy/Date, written and performed by Sarah Jones and directed by Carolyn Cantor, which will begin previews on 27 September 2016 and officially open on 18 October.

Synopsis: "Tony Award-winning writer, performer and activist Sarah Jones returns to the New York stage as a medley of characters in Sell/Buy/Date, a new play inspired by the real-life experiences of people affected by the commercial sex industry. Through her masterful, multicultural characterizations, Jones explores an array of diverse perspectives on a fascinating and incendiary subject, all while preserving the full humanity and humor of voices seldom heard in the theater."

Creative team information for this production will also be announced at a later date.
