When New York theatres first closed, actors took to the virtual stage and appeared in a number of online productions. As a result, MCC Theater's virtual benefit reading of Beirut will be available to rewatch, streaming once more from January 28 - 31.

Although Beirut first premiered at MCC Theater in 1987, the production resonates with the present day. Set in a Lower East Side apartment, Beirut follows Torch, a young man living in quarantine whose girlfriend refuses to leave him alone.

Oscar Isaac plays Torch, whose recent theatre credits include Hamlet at the Public Theater and We Live Here at New York City Center. Last seen on Broadway in The Rose Tattoo, Marisa Tomei plays Blue, reprising her role from the original production in 1987. The trio of actors is completed by MCC Theater founding member Patrick Breen, who makes a cameo appearance in the production.

The upcoming virtual revival of Beirut is part of the latest season at MCC Theater, who are committed to streaming short dramas and new musicals. MCC Theater plan to produce in-person productions of two works: Nollywood Dreams by Jocelyn Bioh and soft by Donja R. Love.

Beirut is available from January 28 - 31.

Beirut tickets are now on sale with TodayTix.
