Love's Labor's Lost at the Public from 18 Oct 2011
The Public Theater has announced casting for their production of William Shakespeare's Love's Labor's Lost, directed by Karin Coonrod, opening at the Anspacher Theater on 31 Oct 2011, following previews from 18 Oct, and closing on 6 Nov 2011.
The cast features Michelle Beck, Rebecca Brooksher, Reg E. Cathey, Jorge Chacon, Keith Eric Chappelle, Stephanie DiMaggio, Renee Elise Goldsberry, Francis Jue, Mousa Kraish, Hoon Lee, Steven Skybell, Robert Stanton, Nick Westrate and Samira Wiley.
Love's Labor's Lost: The King of France and his three best buds swear off romance and withdraw into their studies...until four girls show up. As the young couples stumble their way toward love, the others in their circle - a pedantic school master, a Spanish dandy, a streetwise con-man, and a cop with a few screws loose - work through their own mad dilemmas.
Bios:
Michelle Beck recently appeared in 'As You Like It' and 'The Tempest' as part of The Bridge Project at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. Her regional theater credits include 'Twelfth Night' at Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, 'Tartuffe' at the McCarter Theatre Center and Yale Rep, and 'The Winter's Tale' and 'Cyrano de Bergerac' at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.
Rebecca Brooksher received a Lucille Lortel Award nomination for her performance in 'Dying City' at Lincoln Center Theater. She has also appeared Off-Broadway in 'White People' at Atlantic Stage 2 and 'The Scariest' at Bleecker Street Theater. She has had a recurring role on the television series "One Life to Live," and she recently appeared in the film "Cold Souls."
Reg E. Cathey has appeared in numerous productions at The Public Theater, including 'Timon of Athens,' 'Talk,' 'The Taming of the Shrew,' 'Hamlet,' 'Macbeth,' 'Measure for Measure,' and 'Richard III.' On Broadway he has appeared in 'The Green Bird.' His television credits include recurring roles on "Lights Out," "The Wire," and "Oz," and he has appeared in such films as "The Machinist," "S.W.A.T." and "American Psycho."
Jorge Chacon recently appeared in New Georges' 'The Germ Project' and has been seen in 'Romeo and Juliet,' 'Hamlet,'' Love's Labor's Lost' and 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' at the Young Shakespeare Workshop in Seattle, Washington.
Keith Eric Chappelle appeared in the Broadway production of 'Cyrano de Bergerac.' Off-Broadway he appeared in 'A Cool Dip in the Barren Saharan Crick' at Playwrights Horizons. On television he has appeared on "Law and Order."
Stephanie Dimaggio recently appeared on Broadway in 'A Free Man of Color.' Her regional credits include 'Italian American Reconciliation' at Long Wharf Theatre, 'Othello' at Shakespeare on the Sound, 'All My Sons' at Huntington Theatre Company and 'Haroun and the Sea of Stories' at Williamstown Theatre Festival. She has appeared on television in "Rubicon," "Cupid," and "Law and Order," and can be seen in the upcoming film "Generation Um..."
Renee Elise Goldsberry appeared at the Delacorte Theater in 'Two Gentlemen of Verona.' Her Broadway credits include 'Good People,' 'The Color Purple,' 'The Lion King' and 'Rent.' Her work in television includes recurring roles on "The Good Wife," "One Life to Live," and "Ally McBeal."
Francis Jue last appeared at The Public Theater in 'Yellow Face,' for which he won a Lucille Lortel Award and an Obie Award. Other Public Theater credits include 'The Winter's Tale,' 'Hamlet,' 'Pericles,' 'Timon of Athens,' 'King Lear,' 'A Language of Their Own' and 'The Tragedy of Richard II.' He has appeared on Broadway in 'Pacific Overtures' and 'Thoroughly Modern Millie.'
Mousa Kraish was previously a part of the 2011 Shakespeare Lab company at The Public Theater and has been seen Off-Broadway in 'Pentecost.' His film credits include "Finchley Dreams," "Super Zeros" and "Munich," and his television credits include "Chuck," "The Whole Truth," "Parenthood" and "Blue Bloods."
Hoon Lee has performed in Public Theater productions of 'Hamlet' and 'Yellow Face.' His Broadway credits include 'Pacific Overtures,' 'Flower Drum Song' and 'Urinetown.' He has appeared in several television series, including "Blue Bloods," "White Collar," and "Royal Pains." He can be seen in the upcoming film "Premium Rush."
Steven Skybell has appeared in several Public Theater productions, including 'The Controversy of Valladolid,' 'Much Ado About Nothing,' 'Antony and Cleopatra,' 'Henry VI Part I and II,' 'Troilus and Cressida' and 'Two Gentlemen of Verona.' His Broadway credits include 'Pal Joey,' 'Wicked' and 'The Full Monty.' He appeared in the film "Cradle Will Rock" and on television in "Sex and the City."

Nick Westrate has appeared on Broadway in 'A Moon for the Misbegotten.' Off-Broadway he performed in 'The Little Foxes' at New York Theatre Workshop. His television credits include a role in the recent HBO mini-series "Mildred Pierce."
Samira Wiley has appeared regionally in 'On The Razzle' and 'Playboy of the West Indies.' She can be seen in the upcoming television series "Unforgettable" and in the upcoming films "The Sitter" and "Another Bullshit Night in Suck City."
