Pulitzer Prize winner Lawrence Wright's new play Camp David has now been confirmed for Broadway and is expected to open during the 2016-2017 season at a yet-to-be-named theatre.

The drama offers a "day-by-day account of the 1978 Camp David conference, when President Carter persuaded Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin and Egyptian president Anwar Sadat to sign the first peace treaty in the modern Middle East, one which endures to this day."

President Jimmy Carter was quoted in the Associated Press:

""It will be quite an emotional experience for me to see (Camp David) on Broadway."
Camp David staged its world premiere in 2014 at Washington D.C.'s Arena Stage and featured Hallie Foote, Khaled Nabawy, Ron Rifkin, and Richard Thomas in the cast. Tonight the original cast members will reunite to perform the drama as part of "Carter Center Weekend" in Vail, Colorado.

A pre-Broadway run is also scheduled and will take place at The Old Globe in San Diego from 13 May 2016 to 19 June 2016.

Lawrence Wright's book 'Thirteen Days in September,' which also centres on the events at Camp David, made the Top 10 lists of many popular outlets in 2014, including The New York Times, Amazon.com, Entertainment Weekly, and Publishers Weekly.

Camp David will be produced on Broadway by Steve Traxler and Gerald Rafshoon.
