Atlantic Theater Company has announced casting for Kimberly Akimbo, a new musical with book and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire and music by Jeanine Tesori. The show is set to start preview performances November 5 ahead of a December 8 opening night, and it will run through December 26.

Victoria Clark will play Kimberly, who won multiple awards, including a 2005 Tony Award for her role as Margaret Johnson in The Light in the Piazza. Her other Broadway credits include roles in Gigi, Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella, and Sister Act, all of which earned her Tony nominations.

The Kimberly Akimbo cast also includes Tony nominee Steven Boyer as Buddy, Justin Cooley as Seth, Olivia Elease Hardy as Delia, Fernell Hogan II as Martin, Michael Iskander as Aaron, Alli Mauzey as Pattie, Bonnie Milligan as Debra, and Nina White as Teresa.

The musical is based on Lindsay-Abaire's play of the same name about a teenage girl named Kim with an aging disorder that makes her appear as an elderly woman. She's also coping with family secrets, possible criminal charges, and borderline personalities, and she's determined to find happiness through it all. The play premiered off Broadway at Manhattan Theatre Club in 2003. The upcoming production at Atlantic Theater Company's Linda Gross Theater is the world premiere of the musical adaptation.

Jessica Stone is set to direct, with Danny Mefford choreographing. The rest of the creative team includes scenic designer David Zinn, costume designer Sarah Laux, hair and makeup designer Jared Janas, lighting designer Lap Chi Chu, sound designer Kai Harada, projection designer Lucy Mackinnon, music director Chris Fenwick, and music contractor Antoine Silverman, with orchestrations by John Clancy and additional orchestrations by Macy Schmidt.
