Keri Russell to join Adam Driver in Broadway revival of Burn This
Performances are expected to begin on Broadway in March 2019.
Producer David Binder has announced that Golden Globe winner & 3-time Emmy Award nominee Keri Russell is set to make her Broadway debut, joining previously announced 3-time Emmy Award nominee and "Star Wars" favorite Adam Driver in the first-ever Broadway revival of Lanford Wilson's Burn This. The new production, directed by Tony Award winner Michael Mayer, is expected to begin performances in March 2019 at a yet-to-be-named Broadway theater.
Both Ms. Russell and Mr. Driver are also set to star in the upcoming "Star Wars: Episode IX" movie, scheduled to be released in December 2019.
Synopsis: "Burn This tells the story of four New Yorkers whose lives are uprooted by a young dancer's accidental death. Set in downtown New York in the raw and gritty 1980s, the combustible drama explores the spiritual and emotional isolation of the dangerous, sexy, raw and demanding Pale (Mr. Driver) and the modern dancer Anna Mann (Ms. Russell), and their tempestuous relationship after the two iconoclasts are brought together in the wake of a life-changing personal tragedy."
Additional casting and creative team information will be announced in the coming months.
Burn This originally premiered off-Broadway in 1987. The production starred John Malkovich as Pale and Joan Allen as Anna, and quickly transferred to Broadway's Plymouth Theatre in October of the same year. The critically acclaimed production ran for a total of 437 performances, closing on October 29, 1988 and Ms. Allen also won a Tony Award in 1988 for her efforts.
Keri Russell made her off-Broadway debut for MCC Theater as Jeannie in Neil LaBute's Fat Pig at the Lucille Lortel Theatre from November 2004 to February 2005. She is perhaps best known for her Golden Globe and 3-time Emmy Award-nominated TV role as Elizabeth Jennings on the hit FX series "The Americans" and her Golden Globe-winning role as Felicity Porter on The WB's "Felicity," as well as her appearances in such Hollywood films as "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes," "Mission: Impossible III," "August Rush," and "Bedtime Stories". She also originated the role of Jenna Hunterson in the 2007 film "Waitress".
Adam Driver previously made his Broadway debut as Frank Gardner in the 2010 revival of George Bernard Shaw's Mrs. Warren's Profession. In 2011, he returned to Broadway to star as Basil Anthony in a revival of Terrence Rattigan's Man and Boy. His off-Broadway credits include playing Louis Johnson in the 2010 revival of Angels in America, Playwrights Horizons' 2009 production of The Retributionists, Classic Stage Company's 2010 production of The Forest, and, most recently, his Lucille Lortel Award-winning performance as Cliff Lewis in the 2012 Roundabout Theatre Company production of Look Back in Anger. He is widely known for his role as Kylo Ren in "Star Wars - The Force Awakens," which he reprised in "Star Wars - The Last Jedi". His other notable screen credits include his three-time Emmy Award-nominated recurring TV role as Adam Sackler on "Girls", as well as "Logan Lucky," "Paterson," "This Is Where I Leave You," "Inside Llewyn Davis," "Lincoln," and "J. Edgar," among many others.
