The Public Theater has announced that playwright Jordan E. Cooper will star in his own play, Ain't No Mo', which is scheduled to stage its world premiere at the Public's LuEsther Hall from March 12 through to April 21, 2019, with an official opening on March 27.

The Public's Artistic Director Oskar Eustis commented: "Jordan Cooper is a meteor of a writer, young and brilliant and astonishingly imaginative. We are thrilled to give this astonishing artist to the world."

Mr. Cooper takes on the role of Peaches (with standby Hermon Whaley Jr. covering the role for all Sunday matinee performances) and will be joined on stage by Marchánt Davis (as Passenger 2), Fedna Jacquet (as Passenger 1), Crystal Lucas-Perry (as Passenger 5), Ebony Marshall-Oliver (as Passenger 4), and Simone Recasner (as Passenger 3).

Synopsis: "Ain't No Mo' is a vibrant satirical odyssey portraying the great exodus of black Americans out of a country plagued with injustice. In a kaleidoscope of scenes of the moments before, during, and after this outrageous departure, this extraordinary new work explores the value of black lives in a country hurtling away from the promise of a black president."

Under the direction of Stevie Walker-Webb, the creative team features scenic design by Kimie Nishikawa; costume design by Montana Levi Blanco; lighting design by Adam Honoré; sound design by Emily Auciello; and hair, wig and make-up design by Cookie Jordan.

Ain't No Mo' Tickets are available now for performances from March 12 through to April 21, 2019.
