Jewtopia to close on 29 Apr
Jewtopia, the long-running comedy written by Bryan Fogel and Sam Wolfson, which recently celebrated its 1,000 performance Off-Broadway, will close on 29 Apr 2007 at the Westside Theatre (Downstairs). The show was booking through to 8 Jul 2007. When the show closes it will have played 27 previews and 1,052 regular performances.
Jewtopia opened in New York on 21 Oct 2004 (previews began 28 Sep 2004) following a 16-month sold-out run at West Hollywoodï¿½s Coast Playhouse where it holds the record as Los Angelesï¿½ longest-running comedy.
Jewtopia tells the story of two 30 year-old single men, Chris O'Connell and Adam Lipschitz. Chris, a gentile, wants to marry a nice Jewish girl. After forming a secret pact, Adam promises to help Chris shed his gentile-ness and bring him undercover into the Jewish world. Cultures clash. Stereotypes collide. Chaos ensues.
