It has been reported that Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures has a Broadway musical in development based on the 1954 Warner Bros. film A Star is Born.

The film was written by Moss Hart, starred Judy Garland and James Mason and was released in September 1954. It went on to earn six Academy Awards, including "Best Actor in a Leading Role" and "Best Actress in a Leading Role" for its two stars, as well as "Best Original Song" for "The Man that Got Away." The score also features the popular show tune ""Gotta Have Me Go with You."

Director Bill Condon, who is about to be represented on the silver screen with Disney's live-action adaptation of "Beauty and the Beast," is attached to helm the project. He made his Broadway directorial debut with the 2014 revival of 'Side Show' at the St. James Theatre.

Featuring the classic Harold Arlen and Ira Gershwin songs from the movie, A Star Is Born is set in 1950s Hollywood and follows a young ingénue Esther Blodgett who is taken under the wing of Norman Maine, a former matinee idol.

A remake of the movie has also been previously rumoured, with Bradley Cooper to direct Lady Gaga as Esther. However, representatives of the musical have claimed that the Broadway project is a completely separate entity and will not relate to the remake.

Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures will soon be represented on the Great White Way with the Broadway premiere of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
