Broadway legend Harvey Fierstein returns to the New York stage tonight in his new solo show Bella Bella. The Manhattan Theatre Club world premiere production is currently scheduled to run at New York City Center's Stage I through December 1, 2019, with an official opening set for October 22.

Synopsis: "Four-time Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein takes on New York City's very own political firebrand, Bella Abzug, in his new raucous, heart-rending and absurdly humorous solo show. Set in 1976, on the eve of her bid to become New York State's first female Senator, Bella Bella finds this larger-than-life, truth-slinging, groundbreaking, hat-wearing icon squirreled away in the bathroom of a midtown hotel awaiting that night's election results while a coterie of family and celebs await her entrance."

Bella Bella is directed by Kimberly Senior.

Harvey Fierstein was last seen on the New York stage in Gently Down the Stream at the Public Theater in 2017. He has won Tony Awards as an author and actor for Torch Song Trilogy in 1983, for La Cage aux Folles (in the category of "Best Book of a Musical") in 1984, and for "Best Actor in a Musical" for Hairspray in 2003. Since then, he has earned Tony nominations for penning the books to Disney's Newsies and Kinky Boots, in 2012 and 2013 respectively, and for writing Casa Valentina in 2014. Torch Song also earned a Tony nomination for "Best Revival of a Play" earlier this year. His other Broadway credits include 2008's A Catered Affair, the 2004 revival of Fiddler on the Roof, 1988's Legs Diamond, and 1987's Safe Sex. On screen, he is perhaps best known for his roles in the 1988 film adaptation of "Torch Song Trilogy," as well as "Mrs. Doubtfire," "Independence Day," "Bullets Over Broadway," Disney's "Mulan," Netflix's "The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance," and NBC's "Hairspray Live!" in 2016.

Bella Bella Tickets are available now for performances through December 1, 2019.
