Final casting announced for Stephen Sondheim’s Company on Broadway

The Broadway revival of Company begins performances on March 2, 2020.

Final casting has been announced for Marianne Elliott's Olivier Award-winning production of Stephen Sondheim and George Furth's musical Company, which opens at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre next spring.

Rashidra Scott will play Susan in the musical about Bobbie (Katrina Lenk) and her many coupled friends who ware wondering why she isn't married. Susan and her husband Peter (Greg Hildreth) seem like the perfect couple in the perfect marriage, but it soon becomes clear that perfection is impossible.

Ms. Scott joins the cast from the Broadway production of Ain't Too Proud - The Life and Times of the Temptations, and has also appeared in Beautiful - the Carole King Musical and Sister Act on Broadway.

Casting for the musical also includes Tony and Grammy Award winner Patti LuPone (as Joanne), alongside Matt Doyle (as Jamie), three-time Tony Award nominee Christopher Fitzgerald (as David), two-time Tony Award nominee Christopher Sieber (as Harry), Tony Award nominee Jennifer Simard (as Sarah), Terence Archie (as Larry), Grammy Award winner Etai Benson (as Paul), Nikki Renée Daniels (as Jenny), Claybourne Elder (as Andy), Kyle Dean Massey (as Theo), and Bobby Conte Thornton (as P.J.).

Synopsis: "Company follows Bobbie, a single woman who has just turned 35 and is unable to commit fully to a steady relationship or marriage. We see her interactions with her best friends, five married couples and three girlfriends. The musical explores relationships through a series of short vignettes, breaking the traditional mould of a book musical."

Marianne Elliott returns to Broadway following previous successes with Angels in America, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time and War Horse (all of which premiered at London's Royal National Theatre). By working in close collaboration with Sondheim, Ms Elliott repositioned the role of Bobbie - which was originally written to be played by a man - to Bobbi, a female lead.

In a five-star review on our LondonTheatre.co.uk partner site, Mark Shenton wrote: "There have been other wonderful productions of Company, [...] but this version is both a departure into new territory and a stunning reaffirmation of its brilliance."

The creative team also features choreography by Liam Steel, musical supervision by Joel Fram, scenic & costume design by Bunny Christie, lighting design by Neil Austin, sound design by Ian Dickinson, orchestrations by David Cullen, dance arrangements by Sam Davis, illusions by Chris Fisher, and hair, wig & makeup design by Campbell Young Associates.

Company is produced on Broadway by Elliott & Harper Productions and The Shubert Organization, with Catherine Schreiber.

Company Tickets are available now for performances from March 2 through September 27, 2020.
