Disney on Broadway announces Women’s Day celebrations

The celebrations mark Disney's fourth year of Women's Day on Broadway.

To commemorate International Women's Day next month, Disney on Broadway have announced early plans for their Women's Day on Broadway initiative. For the fourth consecutive year, Disney will praise the power of women in theatre, with celebrations taking place on March 12.

This year's theme is "Reflecting Courageously, Transforming Collectively" and will be held virtually on the first anniversary of the shutdown of Broadway theatres. According to press material, events will "inspire each attendee to drive change, make an impact, and discuss how to keep moving forward amid this unprecedented and challenging time."

Featured speakers include Karen Olivo, currently starring in Moulin Rouge: The Musical. Marija Abney, Laura Benanti, Tanya Birl, Pearl Cleage, Cara Cooper, Maria Manuela Goyanes, Alia Jones-Harvey, Gethsemane Herron-Coward, Vanessa Javier, Tavia Jefferson, Julia Jones, Eva Price, Erin Moore, Phoebe Moore, Brittany Monachino, Lynn Nottage, Tali Pelman, Deborah Roberts, Jessica Rush, Macy Schmidt, Aaliytha Stevens and Anne Quart will also take part. 

A full schedule of events, as well as featured speakers and registration information is to be announced.

Disney shows currently suspended on Broadway include The Lion King and AladdinFrozen will not return to St. James Theatre once Broadway reopens.

Women's Day on Broadway 2021 is on March 12.
