The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing have officially confirmed that the biggest night in Broadway's theatre calendar, The 73rd Annual Tony Awards, will take place on Sunday, June 9, 2019 at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. Continuing the tradition, CBS will broadcast the ceremony live, as it has done since 1978, and is committed to do so through to 2026.

In addition, the nominations for next year's Tony Awrds will be announced on Tuesday, April 30, 2019. All Broadway productions in the 2018-2019 season, who officially open on or before the eligibility cut-off date of Thursday, April 25, 2019 (and meet all other requirements) can be considered for nominations.

The 72nd Annual Tony Awards were hosted by Sara Bareillies and Josh Groban on Sunday, June 10, 2018, where The Band's Visit stole the show with a total of 10 Tony Award wins (including "Best Musical"). Other big winners on the night included Harry Potter and the Cursed Child - Parts One and Two, which took home 6 Tony Awards (including "Best Play"), as well as Once on This Island and the National Theatre's production of Angels in America, which scooped the Tonys for "Best Revival of a Musical" and "Best Revival of a Play", respectively.
