Producers of the Public Theater production of Black Light, created by Daniel Alexander Jones and starring his alter ego - legendary singer Jomama Jones, have announced an early closure date of November 11, 2018 at the Greenwich House Theater. Following previews from September 24, 2018, Black Light officially opened on October 10 to positive reviews. Upon closing, the production will have played 13 previews and 30 regular performances (and a total of 68 performances, including the acclaimed engagement earlier this year at Joe's Pub as part of the Public Theater's 2017-2018 season).

Producer Diana DiMenna commented: "Daniel and I are thrilled to have extended the life of Black Light in New York because it felt like a very necessary healing experience in this deeply divided time. We wish the show could play here forever, but are excited to explore more ways to bring Jomama's message to more people in more places, and we can't wait to get started."

Black Light features original music by Jomama Jones with Bobby Halvorson, Laura Jean Anderson, Dylan Meek, and Josh Quat.

Synopsis: "Black Light is a captivating musical journey that fuses the Black American Freedom movement, Afromysticism and goddess mythology with the musical influences of Prince, Sade, Diana Ross, and Tina Turner. Black Light removes the barrier between artist and audience, allowing them to bear witness, be witnessed and reflect on the present time."

The production is directed by Tea Alagić and features music direction by Tariq al-Sabir, based upon Samora Abayomi Pinderhughes's original arrangements. The creative team also features scenic design by Gabriel Evansohn, lighting design by Ania Parks, costume design by Oana Botez and sound design by Nick Kourtides.
