To celebrate World Theatre Day, stars from Broadway and West End productions will come together for a virtual show. Moulin Rouge cast members will be taking part in the event, available to watch on 27 March.

Rise Up With Arts is created by Pasha Kovalev and Anya Garnis, who’ve both competed as professional dancers in Strictly Come Dancing, the UK equivalent of Dancing With The Stars. Speaking about their upcoming event, they said: “having not been able to perform throughout 2020 and seeing many friends struggle without a creative outlet due to the pandemic, we decided to take matters into our own hands and create a virtual experience that could bring the Arts back to life.”

A trio of Moulin Rouge cast members will star in the show. The Tony Award-nominated actor Aaron Tveit will appear, currently playing Christian in the Broadway musical. He’ll be joined by Ricky Rojas and Robyn Hurder.

West End performers taking part include Kerry Ellis, who is joined by Queen frontman Brian May. Matt Croke, Duncan James, Kevin Clifton, Robin Windsor, Lisa Riley, Arlene Phillips and Idriss Kargbo join the event.

As well as singers and dancers, Rise Up With Arts will also see famed creatives share their stories. Lyricist Don Black will take part, whose credits include Bonnie & Clyde starring Jeremy Jordan and Laura Osnes. Choreographers Stacey Haynes, Dominic “D-trix” Sandoval, Dante Culcuy and Paula Duarte and screenwriter John Logan will also appear.
