Second Stage Theatre (2ST) presents the world premiere of Dick Scanlan and Sherie Rene Scott's new play Whorl Inside A Loop, directed by Michael Mayer and Dick Scanlan, at off-Broadway's Tony Kiser Theatre from 4 August 2015.

Co-author Sherie Rene Scott will star in the production, with additional casting to be announced at a later date.

Artistic Director Carole Rothman released the following statement:

"Working with Sherie, Dick, and Michael on Everyday Rapture was one of the most fulfilling and enjoyable experiences of my career and I am thrilled to welcome them back with this new play. Sherie and Dick have written a powerful and surprising ensemble work - timely, moving, and full of the honesty, insight, and humor that make their combined voice such a singular delight."

Synopsis: "A well-regarded actress agrees to teach six inmates how to tell their stories behind the bars of a men's maximum security prison. Sharing intimate and sometimes hilarious details of their former lives, this unlikely group forms a bond - even as the actress' life outside spins out of control. And when what happens in prison doesn't stay there, no one is sure who to trust. Whorl Inside A Loop explores the fine line between convicted felons and the criminal inside each of us, the viability of forgiveness and the unreliability of redemption."

The team of Sherie Rene Scott, Dick Scanlan and Michael Mayer previously teamed up together for the Roundabout Theatre company production of 'Everyday Rapture' at Broadway's American Airlines Theatre in 2010, which earned Tony nominations for Best Book of a Musical and Best Actress in a Musical (for Scott).

Sherie Rene Scott also earned a Tony nomination for Best Actress in a Musical in 2005 for 'Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.' Other Broadway credits include 'Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown,' Disney's 'The Little Mermaid,' 'Aida,' 'Rent,' 'Grease,' and 'The Who's Tommy.' Her off-Broadway credits include 'Everyday Rapture,' 'Landscape of the Body,' 'Debbie Does Dallas,' and 'The Last Five Years.'
