Young Frankenstein: Sutton Foster Shuler Hensley and Megan Mullally to star.
The New York Post reports that the producers of Mel Brooks' musical Young Frankenstein are having a difficult time holding on to their cast. The paper says "In the last week, two key actors who were going to star in the new Mel Brooks musical have dropped out, while a couple of others are on the fence.
The two actors who have dropped out are Kristin Chenoweth, who was to be cast as Elizabeth, and Zachary Levi, who was to be cast as Young Frankenstein. Both actors have landed roles in Pilot TV shows and have withdrawn from the production.
The two actors on the fench are Roger Bart, who's been offered the role of Igor, and Andrea Martin, who has been cast as Frau Blucher. Both actors may withdraw from the production for TV shows. Bart is auditioning next week for Kelsey Grammer's New TV show 'Action News', whilst Andrea Martin is waiting to hear if she will be signed up for another TV show she had earlier auditioned for.
The New York Post quotes an unnamed source connected with the production complaing that ""Television is stealing our cast. There's an agent on the phone every day saying, 'Sorry, so-and-so got a pilot.' "
Despite these problems the show has signed up Megan Mullally, who is stepping in for Kristin Chenoweth in the role of Elizabeth, Sutton Foster as Inga and Shuler Hensley as the monster.
The Paper also reports that "Eric McCormack (Mullally's "Will & Grace" co-star) is in the running for the role of young Dr. Frankenstein."
