Wilson Bethel & Alex Mickiewicz to star in The Last Match

Roundabout Theatre Company has announced complete casting for the upcoming New York premiere of The Last Match, written by Anna Ziegler and directed by Gaye Taylor Upchurch, which begins previews on September 28, 2017 at the Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre's Laura Pels Theatre, before an official opening on October 24 and a limited engagement through to December 24, 2017.

Wilson Bethel and Alex Mickiewicz will star as Tim and Sergei, respectively, alongside Natalia Payne (as Galina) and Zoë Winters (as Mallory).

Synopsis: "It's the semifinals of the U.S. Open, and two tennis greats are facing off in the match of their lives. Tim Porter, the aging all-American favorite, wants to prove to the world, his wife and himself that he's still a champion. Hot-headed rising star Sergei Sergeyev struggles to believe he truly deserves to beat his lifelong hero. Set against the high-stakes backdrop of professional sports, the play serves up a richly theatrical look at what keeps us striving and why."

The creative team behind The Last Match has also been announced and features scenic design by Tim Mackabee, costume design by Montana Blanco, lighting design by Bradley King, and sound design by Bray Poor.

Wilson Bethel is perhaps best known for his recurring role as Wade Kinsella on "Hart of Dixie." Other notable screen credits include "How to Get Away with Murder," "The Astronaut Wives Club," "The Young and the Restless," and "Generation Kill."

Alex Mickiewicz was previously part of the Broadway companies of 'Long Day's Journey Into Night,' and 'Thérèse Raquin' for the Roundabout Theatre Company.

Natalia Payne has previously appeared off-Broadway in Edward Albee's 'Me, Myself & I' at Playwrights Horizons, and in Classic Stage Company's 'New Jerusalem: The Interrogation of Baruch de Spinoza at Talmud Torah Congregation: Amsterdam, July 27, 1656.'

Zoë Winters' off-Broadway credits include Lincoln Center Theater's 'The Harvest,' 'Shows For Days,' and '4000 Miles,' as well as 'Small Mouth Sounds' at Pershing Square Signature Center, 'Red Speedo' at New York Theatre Workshop, and the 2014 "Shakespeare in the Park" production of 'Much Ado About Nothing,' among others.
