When We Go Upon the Sea announces cast

The cast has been announced for 59E59 Theaters presentation of the New York City premiere of When We Go Upon the Sea, written by Lee Blessing and directed by Paul Meshejian, as part of their Americas Off Broadway festival.

Produced by The InterAct Theatre Company of Philadelphia, where the play recently had its World Premiere, When We Go Upon the Sea will feature Conan McCarty (Broadway: Macbeth with Christopher Plummer and A Few Good Men) as 'George W. Bush,' Peter Schmitz (Broadway's My Fair Lady) as 'Piet' and Kim Carson (Barrymore Award-winner for 'Hedwig & the Angry Inch') as 'Anna-Lisa.'

When We Go Upon the Sea opens at 59E59's Theater B on 17 Jun 2010, following previews from 10 Jun, and runs through to 3 Jul 2010.

When We Go Upon the Sea is set in a posh hotel room at The Hague, the play imagines former President George W. Bush on the eve of his trial for international war crimes. Tended to by an inscrutable Dutch butler and an alluring masseuse, the President embarks on a long night of drinking, joking and ruminating, taking the audience through a deep exploration of how we regard our leaders - loving them, fearing them, unintentionally deifying them.

The creative team features set design by Jessica Parks, costumes by Patricia E. Doherty and lighting by Jill Nagle.
