When She Was King/Sit Cha Ass Down at the Payan Theatre

Wabi Sabi Productions inc., presents When She Was King/Sit Cha Ass Down, two one woman comedic solo performances, at the Payan Theatre from the 4 - 7 May 2006.

When She Was King/: Gender illusionist Diyaa, also known as Dred, recreates many familiar characters from the 1970's as she weaves her life experiences through them and challenges our percerption of gender. The show wass conceived and performed by Diyya (a.k.a. Mildred Gerestant) and is directed by Emmitt Thrower.

Sit Cha Ass Down: Different snapshots of the black experience. Nubian Whore, Dick- Dodger, Ghetto-Bourgeois-Girl, National Spokesperson for Ignorance and others deal with ghetto-isms, politics, men, police brutality and war. Writen and performed by Kanene Holder.
