Show now booking up to the 6 Jun 2004 The Roundabout Theatre Company production of Twentieth Century, has announced another extension to its run at American Airlines Theatre. The show, which officially opened yesterday 25 Mar 2004, has extended a further week and is now taking bookings to 6 Jun 2004. Written by Ben Hecht and Charles MacArthur, in a new adaptation by Ken Ludwig, it is directed by Walter Bobbie, designed by John Lee Beatty, lighting by Peter Kaczorowski, and costumes by William Ivey Long. The cast includes Alec Baldwin (Oscar Jaffe), Anne Heche (Lily Garland), Tom Aldredge (Matthew Clark), Terry Beaver (Conductor), Teagle F. Bougere (Porter), Stephen Derosa (Beard & Max Jacobs), Julie Halston (Oliver Webb), Kellie Overbey (Anita Highland), Ryan Shively (George Smith), Jonathan Walker (Dr. Grover Lockwood) Twentieth Century is the comedic story of Oscar Jaffe, a successful and egomaniacal Broadway director, who has transformed a chorus girl, Lily Garland, into a leading lady. As Lily rises to stardom and heads to Hollywood, Oscar begins a career downslide. Bankrupt and on his way out, Oscar boards a train, the Twentieth Century Limited, where he coincidentally runs into Lily again. Oscar pulls out all the stops to persuade the now temperamental star to return for another show.
