The Shubert Foundation High School Theatre Festival will take place on June 15

Students will perform excerpted scenes from five high school theatre productions.

Over 160 New York City public school students will make their virtual Broadway debuts during The Shubert Foundation High School Theatre Festival on Monday, June 15. The festival will be hosted by Frozen and The Public Theater's Hercules star Jelani Alladin with George Salazar (Be More Chill), James Harkness (Ain't Too Proud), and more Broadway stars as presenters.

"Since the beginning of this festival six years ago, our New York City Public High School students have delighted us with their commitment, skill, and creativity. But this year they have outdone themselves," said Diana Phillips, President of The Shubert Foundation. "Under the most trying of circumstances they have come together to present magical performances where their talent, spirit and ingenuity are nothing short of an inspiration. Bravo to them and to their teachers for creating such a memorable event."

Five high school productions have been chosen as the featured performances. A group of theater artists and educators selected these shows from over 30 entries. Student presenters will perform excerpted scenes and musical numbers from Fame, Lucky Stiff, Hairspray, Aida, and The Wolves. In this sixth year of the festival, four of the five New York boroughs are represented in these productions.

The event will be available to watch on Monday, June 15 at 7PM at Shubert.nyc.
