The Phantom Of The Opera, Jennifer Hope Wills plays Christine Daae


Jennifer Hope Wills is the new Christine Daae, from 12 Dec 2006, in Broadway's longest running musical The Phantom Of The Opera, currently booking to 19 May 2007 at the Majestic Theatre.

Jennifer Hope Wills made her Phantom debut as the show's Christine alternative (playing the role twice a week), a role she has been playing since April this year, apart from when she played Christine in the National Tour during the summer. Wills succeeds Rebecca Pitcher as Christine.

Julie Hanson returns to the show as the Christine alternive, a role she previously played in the Broadway musical from Sep 2003 to Jul 2005 when she made her Broadway debut, and again in the summer of this year.

Jennifer Hope Wills is best known for playing Eileen, opposite Brooke Shields, in the Broadway revival of Wonderful Town (2003). Her BRoadway credits include being the understudy for the role of Laura in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Woman in White (2005) and understudy for the role of Belle in Disney's Beauty and the Beast from Jan - Sep 2004.

The Phantom Of The Opera also features Howard McGillin (The Phantom), Michael Shawn Lewis (Raoul), Anne Runolfsson (Carlotta Giudicelli), George Lee Andrews (Monsieur Firmin), David Cryer (Monsieur Firmin), Marilyn Caskey (Madame Giry), Heather McFadden (Meg Giry) and Roland Rusinek (Ubaldo Piangi).

The Phantom Of The Opera, which opened on Broadway in 1988, has book by Richard Stilgoe and Andrew Lloyd Webber, music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Charles Hart & Richard Stilgoe. The musical became the longest running musical in Broadway history when it played its 7486 on the 9 Jan 2006, it is the only Broadway musical to play more then 7,500 performances (21 Jan 2006), and the show celebrated its 18th anniversary on the 26 Jan 2006.

A hideously deformed Phantom lurks beneath the stage of the Paris Opera, exercising a reign of terror over its occupants. The phantom falls in love with the young Soprano devoting himself to creating a new star for the Opera by nurturing her extraordinary talents and employing all the skills at his disposal.

The Phantom Of The Opera is directed by Harold Prince and has production design by the late Maria Bj�rnson, lighting by Andrew Bridge and sound by Martin Levan. Musical staging and choreography is by Gillian Lynne. Orchestrations are by David Cullen and Andrew Lloyd Webber.
