The Old Man and The Old Moon extends run

PigPen Theatre Company theatre company have announced a eight week extension of The Old Man and The Old Moon. The show will now play through to 6 Jan 2013.

The Old Man And The Old Moon, which began previews on 26 Sep 2012, opened at The Gym at Judson Memorial Church on 7 Oct 2012, following previews from 26 Sep 2012, where it was originally scheduled to close on 25 Nov 2012.

The played opened to mostly excellent reviews: Charming and smartly staged (NY Times); A hauntingly beautiful production ... So why did I find it nearly insufferable? (NY Post); Entirely endearing (Back Stage).

The Old Man And The Old Moon is the tale of an old man who must abandon his duties of filling up the moon every month to cross the seas in search of his missing wife, who left home in search of a mysterious melody carried in the ocean breeze. On his journey, the Old Man will encounter titanic leviathans of the deep, apocalyptic storms, civil wars, cantankerous ghosts and other startling and fantastical creatures.

The production features PigPen's signature blend of original music, shadow puppetry, live action, and lighting effects, and marks the company's first large-scale Off-Broadway production.

The cast features Alex Falberg, Ben Ferguson, Curtis Gillen, Ryan Melia, Matt Nuernberger, Arya Shahi and Dan Weschler.

The play is written, directed, produced and stars the seven members of the PigPen Theatre Company.
